North Coast Steelhead Rivers, Oregon
Guided Fly Fishing for Winter & Spring Steelhead
Swinging flies on the Oregon coast, April 2008.
January through April Chris O'Donnell's Guide Service offers guided float trips on several rivers along the northern Oregon coast. The Nehalem, Wilson, Trask, and Nestucca Rivers host healthy runs of native winter and spring steelhead. These fish are large and wild, and fight with an uncommon level of determination.
A single day guided float trip will take you from the rugged waters of the Coast Range foothills to the smooth easy flows near the Pacific Ocean. We employ traditional fly fishing techniques on these rivers (down and across presentation), most commonly with two-handed rods. The equipment and tactics we use to pursue coastal winter steelhead are very specific. Spey rods, custom lines and sink tips, and home tied leaders and flies will be available for demo use.
Single day trips are available, as well as multi-day trip packages including accommodations in either Tillamook or Manzanita. From our headquarters on the Oregon coast anglers have quick access to a number of seductive steelhead rivers, offering an easy week's worth of fishing.
If swinging large steelhead flies with two-handed rods through emerald green pools in a Pacific Northwest rainforest setting sounds attractive to you, contact us and reserve your dates. Photos
